EAT
Pauley, a food writer, is smugly content with her Miami life: a dull, but affectionate husband, a cushy job with a magazine, and her well-regarded self. A strange encounter with a beggar begins a series of events that deprives her, one-by-one, of these satisfactions. Stripped of everything she depended upon, like Candide, she must find her way home.
OLD TESTAMENT EYES
Tyler, who is more than slightly mad, lives with her husband and overweight daughter in Jackson, Mississippi. She moves in with her father who has had a stroke, convincing herself that by helping him, she will heal herself. All does not go smoothly: his disability increases her instability, and her increasingly elaborate attempts to help him lead to disaster. With dark humor, Tyler finds a path out.
